◆ What is architectural information ?

Building information is crucial for the housing, economic activities, and daily lives of citizens, as it encompasses all administrative tasks related to a building's lifecycle, from planning to completion (permitting → commencement of construction → occupancy approval → maintenance → demolition, etc.). Since February 2015, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport has opened 1,546 items of building and housing-related information (building registers, building permits, etc.) entered into the building administration system, representing approximately 280 million data items. Additionally, approximately 1.21 billion data items, including drawing data and building maintenance information, will be made public. Furthermore, the Ministry is developing and providing new open API services to facilitate the private sector's utilization of building information, thereby creating new business opportunities.

How can it be used?

The opening of building information is expected to expand the user base to include private companies and the general public in diverse fields such as small business owners, data distribution, finance, real estate purchases, and consulting. This will also revitalize construction-related industries such as architectural design, building maintenance and inspection, and architectural content distribution. The general public can realize time and cost savings by integrating and utilizing building-based data for building management (including occupancy inspections and energy management) and finding optimal housing. The construction industry anticipates that the expanded opening of building information will revitalize related industries such as architectural design, maintenance, and inspection. In fact, several companies that have piloted open data projects estimate annual cost savings of approximately KRW 2.5 billion for site analysis and real estate consulting, and KRW 6 billion for renewable energy consulting. As private companies and individuals leverage this open building information to create a variety of creative, convergent services, various social cost savings are also expected. For example, self-employed startup consulting is expected to reduce social costs by KRW 1.3 trillion annually, alleviating the financial burden on self-employed individuals.
