These are export and import trade statistics by province and city, compiled based on trade data collected based on customs clearance procedures and categorized by HSCode item. These are aggregated export and import trade statistics. HS Code is an international commodity classification system that assigns a unique number to all products, and these are for each of Korea's 17 provinces and cities (including Seoul, Daegu, Busan, and Gwangju). As the dictionary defines it, export and import trade statistics refer to statistics on the exchange of goods between the national economy and other countries. All goods that are brought into or taken out of a country's economic territory and thereby increase or decrease the country's material resources are recorded. Goods that simply pass through a country (transit goods) or are temporarily brought in or taken out are not included in trade statistics because they do not increase or decrease the country's material resources. The trade statistics area, which serves as the basis for compiling data, is determined from geographical, administrative, and national economic perspectives. In most countries, including Korea, the customs territory, which refers to the area where customs laws comprehensively apply, and the trade statistics area are conceptually identical. Therefore, trade statistics can be considered statistics on the exchange of cargo beyond the customs territory. In Korea, imports are calculated based on the CIF value, and exports are calculated based on the FOB value. Data for the previous month is updated around the 15th of each month to reflect changes such as corrections or cancellations of import and export declarations, and the cycle is one month. Weight is expressed in net weight (kg), and value is based on imports (dutiable value in US dollars) and exports (declared value in US dollars).
