                <dct:description xml:lang="en">This is an NMR-based metabolomic analysis of human plasma in response to persistent organic pollutant exposure, conducted by the Korea Basic Science Institute. Study Description: Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are lipophilic environmental toxins, and their accumulation in the body through the food chain has been linked to the development of diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. We analyzed concentrations of POPs and their circulating metabolites and investigated the association between plasma metabolite concentrations and levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) to determine the impact of POP accumulation in human samples.
