국토지리정보원에서는 우리 지명을 체계적으로 정리하고 보존하여 국민들에게 알리고자, 우리 지명의 특징과 유래 등을 수록한 "지명유래집"을 발간하였고, 지역별로 향토의 역사와 문화에 대한 관심이 증대됨에 따라 각 지역별로 기존의 지명 유래집을 새롭게 구성한 한국지명유래집을 발간하여 국토정보플랫폼을 통해 자료를 제공하고 있습니다.
제공하는 자료는 지역별 지명유래 경상편(2011년 기준), 전라/제주편(2010년 기준), 충청편(2009년 기준), 중부편(2008년 기준) 4종과, 1987년 지명 유래집, 1982년 지도와 지명 2종입니다. The National Geographic Information Institute has published a \Collection of Place Names' Origins\ containing the characteristics and origins of our place names in order to systematically organize and preserve them and inform the public about them. In addition, as interest in local history and culture has increased by region, we have published a Collection of Korean Place Names' Origins by reorganizing the existing collections of place names by region and are providing the data through the National Geographic Information Platform.
