청계산은 서울특별시와 경기도 성남시ㆍ과천시ㆍ의왕시의 경계에 따라 위치해 있으며 과천에서 동남쪽으로 5㎞, 안양에서 동쪽으로 12㎞, 서울에서 18㎞의 거리를 두고 서울특별시와 경기도에 걸쳐 약 3.7㎢, 평수로 환산하면 112만평이고 매봉을 중심으로 서쪽의 경기도 청계산지역과 동쪽의 서울특별시 청계산지역으로 구분됩니다. 서울특별시의 남쪽관문에 위치해 있어 서울로 상경하는 시민들에게 녹색의 푸르름을 안겨 도시의 삭막함을 절감시켜주며 연간 이용자수가 500여만명으로 휴일에는 6만명 이상이 이용하고 있어 도시지역에 대한 “녹색허파”로서의 역할을 훌륭히 수행하고 있고 수도권 이천만 주민들의 자연휴식처로서 애용되고 있습니다. 현재 서초구에서 청계산을 오르는 진입구는 4곳으로 청계골 입구, 원터골 입구, 개나리골 입구, 화물터미널 입구가 있습니다. 주 등산로로 시민들이 가장 많이 이용하고 있는 원터골입구에서 원터골 약수터를 거쳐 깔닥고개를 올라 매봉에 오르는 코스는 약 3㎞로 1시간 20분 정도 소요됩니다. 대중교통편으로는 양재역에서 4432버스를 타는것과 양재역에서 신분당선으로 환승하여 청계산입구역에서 내리면 됩니다. 대중교통 접근이 용이하여 많은 분들이 찾고 계십니다. Cheonggyesan Mountain is situated along the boundary between Seoul and the cities of Seongnam, Gwacheon, and Uiwang in Gyeonggi Province. Located 5 km southeast of Gwacheon, 12 km east of Anyang, and 18 km from Seoul, it spans approximately 3.7 km² (equivalent to 1.12 million pyeong) across Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Centered around Maebong Peak, the mountain is divided into the Gyeonggi Province area to the west and the Seoul Metropolitan City area to the east. Situated as the southern gateway to Seoul, it offers lush greenery to citizens traveling to the city, alleviating the bleakness of urban life. With over 5 million annual visitors and more than 60,000 on holidays, it admirably fulfills its role as a \green lung\ for the urban area and is a beloved natural resting place for the 20 million residents of the metropolitan region. Currently, there are four entrances to Cheonggyesan Mountain from Seocho-gu: the Cheonggyegol Entrance, Wonteogol Entrance, Gaenarigol Entrance, and Cargo Terminal Entrance. The course most frequently used by citizens as the main hiking trail—starting from Wontergol Entrance, passing through Wontergol Mineral Spring, climbing Kkaldak Pass, and reaching Maebong Peak—is approximately 3 km long and takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. For public transportation, you can take bus 4432 from Yangjae Station or transfer to the Shinbundang Line and get off at Cheonggyesan Entrance Station.
