This chart shows the natural gas self-sufficiency rates of four major natural gas-consuming countries in Asia: South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and China. It is calculated by dividing the amount of natural gas produced in a country by its demand. South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and China are the largest importers of natural gas globally in the form of LNG. While China's domestic natural gas production has recently increased, the four countries still account for a significant portion of their natural gas imports. The data covers the period from January 2010 to December 2024. The raw data is from the Joint Organization Data Initiative (JOD) and is publicly accessible.
